When patients find out they have problems like leaky gut, acid reflux, gastritis, Candida overgrowth, small intestine bacterial overgrowth, gluten sensitivity, Crohn’s, colitis, etc. they know they need a change. But what diet is the best? What should someone do with their food to help them get healthier? These are big questions! And we’ve had the training and experience to help you sort it out.
The truth is there is no “perfect” diet for everyone. Even a diet that works for you during one phase of your health journey might not work great during a different phase. At the beginning of care, many patients in our office need a lot of attention and care to their gastrointestinal tract – killing bugs, healing leaky gut, improving digestion, etc., – so most of our special diets are focused on that area. However, there are quite a few patients who don’t need a full gut overhaul right off the bat. These individuals do better by focusing first on detoxification. This type of program lasts anywhere from a week to several months, depending on the patient’s age, history, complexity, etc. The doctors at Red Mountain follow a mostly “modified paleo” diet themselves, and know the challenges that special diets can place on our busy lives. Rest assured, if a special or modified diet is recommended, you will be given resources and support to make your diet a successful part of your treatment with us.
